I like the design better than the other finis monifins that have the stiff plate. This one has a softer rubber feel that is better for lap swimming if you have to share a lane, so you don't cut or scratch other people in your lane. I think it's a great training aid for dolphin kick and enables you to engage the abdominal muscles and erector spinae. A few points on sizing: when I bought this off amazon, they just listed in letters (xs, s, m, l, xl) and not shoe sizes. The finis website lists corresponding shoe sizes, but the listings on the finis website DO NOT match the sizes listed on the monofin box, which seem to be more accurate. The sizes on the monofin box are as follows:Size, Men, Women XS, 3-5, 4.5-6.5 S, 5.5-8, 7-9.5 M, 8.5-10, 10-11.5 L, 10.5-13, 12-15.5 XL, 13.5-15, 16-17.5 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Very Fast, This review is from: Finis Yellow Foil Monofin (Sports) I had tried many times to make a homemade monofin for my mermaid tail swim suit. Nothing worked so I caved in and bought this one. The price was a little higher than I wanted to go, but I think its worth every penny. It is very fast and works great with the mermaid tail. I bought a large and its a little loose. I am a shoe size 9 in mens' and about an 11 in womens'. The one thing i don't like about the fin is its a little rough on my feet. The area where your toes stick out rubs against my feet quite bad and leaves large red marks. But since there is a little wiggle room, a pair of water socks will fix the fit issue and the toe rubbing issue.
