4.0 out of 5 stars Fun surf and blues sound, December 21, 2010

really happy with this guitar, been playing over 20 years, starting to play other than hard rock, looking for a surf, blues sounding guitar
my other guitars have double hum buckers, this has a nice clean sound,
through a Roland amp, had to ajust the neck when i got it,but that seems to be the norm
with any guitar, the quality is good made in Indonesia, worth the extra money, for what you pay on a bullet strat made in China, better sound (Seymour Duncan pick ups)and nice fret board, finish looks nice, even extra spring packed with the allen wrench for the tremlo bar, I feel i got a really nice guitar for the buck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Guitar at a Great Price, November 26, 2010

Don't let the squire name mislead you, this guitar is on par with the vast majority of USA Fenders and vastly exceeds the Mexico guitars in tone, build quality, and playability.

I did make the following modifications to suite my tastes, but I would have done this to any Strat:
1.) Installed a 1/2 width hum bucker pickup in the bridge position. I used a Seymore Duncan, but Bill Lawrence makes an excellent pickup I just forgot about him (sorry Bill).
2.) Bypassed the string trees. There is no need for them with this guitar's headstock angle and it helps things stay in tune when using the vibrato bar
3.) Block off the vibrato so it only drops the pitch. This has one obvious disadvantage, but many advantages including: Guitar stays in tune when you break a string, you are not fighting the vibrato when you bend notes, if you jump around a lot on stage you do not get the vibration translated into string pitch oscillation, and it is much easier to tune.
4.)... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this guitar!, February 17, 2012

This is possibly one of the best deals price-wise on guitars... The ONLY complaint I had, which is strictly a matter of personal taste, is that the Daphne Blue color is a bit lighter than it appears in the photos, its more of a Baby Powder Blue, IMO. This makes the white pickguard look a bit weird, again, in my opinion, so I purchaser a Fender Stratocaster 3-ply black pickguard to set all of the colors off, and now it looks really "Bluesy". I'll try to include a pic.
