Product Description
Splenda No Calorie Sweetener contains sucralose (Splenda Brand Sweetener), the no calorie sweetener made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar, with no unpleasant aftertaste. Splenda No Calorie Sweetener can be used virtually anywhere sugar is used. It can also be used in cooking and baking in a variety of recipes. Like many no and low calorie sweeteners, each serving of Splenda No Calorie Sweetener contains a very small amount of common food ingredients, e.g., dextrose and/or maltodextrin, for volume. Because the amount of these ingredients is so small, Splenda No Calorie Sweetener still has an insignificant calorie value per serving and meets FDA's standards for "no calorie" sweeteners. How Is Splenda Brand Sweetener Made? Splenda is the brand name for the ingredient sucralose. It is made through a patented, multi-step process that starts with sugar and converts it to a no calorie, non-carbohydrate sweetener.

I love sweets, but I am working on losing weight. I exercise every day, but that is not enough. I had been adding a lot of granulated Splenda (and the granulated generic sucralose sweetener) to my diet drinks, fruit, juice and almost everything. It says zero calories, so a big time sugar junkie like me should be able to eat just as much or more than the amount of sugar that I would have eaten and still lose weight. But it was no calories, so I used even more. Suddenly my whole world was sweet. But I was gaining weight and it didn't add up. I looked up sucralose and went to the Splenda web site. There it explained that legally, if a serving has less than 5 calories then they are entitled to call it zero calories. But the vendor decides how much is in a serving. If you make the serving size small enough, any food can be labeled zero calorie... All the packets appear to have been exposed to excessive moisture. The Splenda inside is all caked and lumpy. It is impossible to use any of the packets. Cut them any which way and more than half the Splenda remains inside. A complete waste of good money. I would give zero stars if I knew how. |
